The St. Lawrence Seaway

>    There are 7 locks between Lake Ontario and Montreal.  Two are American and five are Canadian.  Tolls are required to transit thru these locks and are accepted in either Canadian or US currency, but must be in exact amounts as change is not available.  It is highly recommended that you wear your life jackets or PFD’s while going thru the locks.  It is much easier transiting West to East along the St. Lawrence due to favorable currents and down-locking (locks are emptying rather than filling).
